SRN Researchers - Chris and Alaina Nash
Husband-Wife Team

With two successful corporate careers, Chris and Alaina Nash were growing tired of working for someone else. The corporate lifestyle prevented them from fulfilling their dream of having residence in their three favorite states but most important, their demanding careers were causing them to lose quality time with their two-year old son. All in all, they had grown tired of Corporate America and were looking for a change.

Alaina had made a name for herself within the sales industry working as a regional sales manger while Chris held demanding positions in advertising and information technology. Between long commutes and little time for family, the Nashes made a joint decision to start their own business and be their own boss. For the past year, Chris and Alaina brainstormed about their business options but were seeing little results. They began looking for a solution that would provide them a solid business plan and structured operations.

When the Nashes came across Strategic Research Network and the Researcher Program, they were attracted to the business model SRN offered. They began their due diligence and during the process received the sample business plan outlining the Researcher business. For Alaina, having a detailed business plan was the “piece” they needed to complete the puzzle, recalling, “SRN gave us the needed tools to make our business successful.” After completing their Screening Process, Chris and Alaina joined the Network and became Researchers in the beginning of June 2007.

Immediately following their attendance at the 2007 SRN National Conference in June, Chris and Alaina got to work and began building their business. Three weeks after they joined SRN, Alaina took the large step of quitting her job and began working on their business full time; the move has paid off.

Within her first few months, she has worked on several projects ranging from candidate sourcing to market research. Chris and Alaina are also using a unique business approach that follows the SRN “bird-dog” model. Chris, acting as the bird-dog, locates leads then brings them back to Alaina, where she then completes the back-end work. As a husband-wife team the bird-dog approach is an effective method for their business that utilizes both of their strongest qualities.

The SRN Network has provided Chris and Alaina with project opportunities and support that they would not have if they launched their business on their own. They have worked with one Researcher on providing lead lists for a client. Another Researcher has also acted as a Mentor to Alaina, providing her with imperative feedback and sourcing skills that Alaina did not possess previously from her sales background. For Alaina, “The mentor relationship has been priceless!”

Most important, becoming SRN Researchers has given Alaina and Chris the independence they were looking for. Alaina no longer has to worry about asking for time off work to be with their son. The business has also gotten them one step closer to their dream of being able to live in their three favorite states. The SRN virtual business model will allow them to take their business with them, whether they are spending time in Texas at the lake house, in the mountains of Colorado, or at home in Washington – the choice is up to them.

Recently, Alaina and Chris joined President Paul Helm on our weekly Internet radio show, “The Info Pro”. If you are interested in hearing Alaina and Chris Nash speak about their intricacies of their business and the bird-dog approach, you can listen to an archived version of their show.
